EducationPublic Education The Wilber-Clatonia Public Schools
is composed of the communities of Wilber (pop. 1700) and Clatonia (pop.
250) and the adjacent rural area. The economic base is dependent on
farming, two meat and grain processing plants and light manufacturing
industries. Total K-12 enrollment is 560 with an experienced staff of
39 teachers and 4 administrators. The mission of the district is to
prepare each student to be a lifelong learner by providing an
educational experience challenging them to reach their potential. In
August of 2005, the district completed construction of an elementary
school and track facility. The construction connected the
district's school buildings and created a K-12 campus for students,
staff, and parents. Curriculum is updated annually in all content
areas. The district is categorized as a C-1 school system by the
Nebraska School Activities Association for the purposes of activities.
Higher EducationThe main campus for Doane College is located 10 miles north of Wilber in Crete, Nebraska. Doane College is a private college of liberal arts and sciences in
Nebraska, is nationally recognized
for its undergraduate and graduate programs across three
campuses in Crete, Lincoln and Grand Island.
The University of Nebraska - Lincoln, the flagship campus of Nebraka's university system is located just 36 miles Northeast of Wilber in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Southeast Community College , a two-year institution offering a variety of academic and vocational programs of study is comprised of three campuses, Lincoln, Beatrice, and Milford all less than 50 miles from Wilber. |
